Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

Donna Olga, crafted from a single vineyard of just 4 hectares on the southwest slope of Montalcino at an altitude of 380 meters, is a true expression of Brunello di Montalcino at its most refined—complex yet fresh, structured yet elegant.
Its bouquet is often described as a harmonious blend of black cherries, mint, licorice, and subtle hints of oyster shell—an expression of the soil’s striking minerality. The unique microclimate, marked by a constant breeze, naturally shields the grapes from excessive humidity and disease, contributing to the wine’s purity and balance.

In the finest vintages, the Donna Olga Brunello label, named Signature Art Collection, becomes a canvas for contemporary artistry, featuring original works by emerging international artists—further underscoring the wine’s commitment to beauty and excellence in every detail.

Brunello di Montalcino Donna Olga has a deep ruby red colour which turns a garnet red with age. Its bouquet has outstanding character with hints of black cherry, blackberries, raspberries, violet, liquorice, vanilla and a slight accent of oyster shells. On the palate it reveals a dry, warm, velvety flavour, rich in substance and noble pedigree, ending with a warm note that lingers persuasively.

Ratings

Donna Olga Brunello di Montalcino 2019

The nose is sweet, dense with dried figs, Luxardo cherries and candied orange peel, lifted by a refreshing blast of mint and wild fennel. The palate leans into berries, abundant sweet, warm citrus and more cherries, before a chocolate finish, but chalky tannins tease out latent earth tones for balance. — Danielle Callegari

Donna Olga Brunello di Montalcino 2019

Dark ruby red with a radiant core. Perfumed nose of small, juicy berries and rose petal. Juicy notion on the palate, precise acidity and pleasant fruitiness, is currently still held back by stubborn tannins and dries out a little.

Geological data sheet

Nestled at the foot of Castello di Velona, the Clos degli Amodeo vineyard spans just three hectares (seven acres), bordered and crowned by a dense forest of holm oak, mastic, myrtle, heather, cork oak, Turkey oak, hawthorn, sorb tree, and black hornbeam.

This woodland plays a vital role in preserving biodiversity: the intricate underground network of tree roots interacts with those of the vines, fostering a balanced and healthy ecosystem. The forest also protects the vineyard by providing shade to the vines and acting as a natural barrier against potential hailstorms.

Geological data sheet

The southwestern side of the Montalcino hill, is much more anthropized, it is easy to find reinassance villas, ancient castles and attended farms. In the heart of this beautiful area, Donna Olga’s four hectars (9,8 acres) producing the single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino Donna Olga, are surrounded by a stunning landscape, dotted by cypress trees, and curated gardens. Standing over the vineyard, Villa Donna Olga welcomes wine lovers, artists but also young people interested in the magical world of wine.

It is precisely the geological map developed by the experts appointed by the Consorzio del Brunello that highlights that, while the estates are positioned on two opposite slopes, they originate from a common Sillano formation, rich in calcilutites and argillites bestowing minerality and longevity to the wines of the estates, while the climatic differences between the two slopes allow the Brunellos to differentiate in terms of fruit, structure, and bouquet.
