Olga Peluso Centolani, who has been producing Brunello di Montalcino since the 1980s, starting with her mother’s lands, Marisa Peluso Centolani. 

A Philosophy of Terroir

Olga’s ardent passion for wine begins at a young age, when she travelled in the renowned estates of Burgundy where she was captivated by the philosophy of viticultural zoning. Once in Montalcino she devoted herself to pursue and elevate the unique characteristics of each vineyard, enhancing the extraordinary diversity of the terroirs, after years of studies on soils, exposures, altitudes, and microclimates, and, not least, paying particular attention to the combination between the characteristics of the various soils and multiple selected clones.

This philosophy is nowadays reflected in the production of different crus from the two estates:
Tenute Donna Olga, the historical estate, located in the south ouest slope of Montalcino’s  hill, that gives bith to Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino Donna Olga while Tenute degli Amodeo  is located at the opposite side on the southeast slope, giving bith to our gems: Brunello di Montalcino Clos degli Amodeo and Le Cacce. 

Today, Olga’s sons Giovanni Maria Amodeo and Federico Maria Amodeo pay particular attention to the principles of sustainability with great respect for the local ecosystem.

Fourty Years of Winegrowing

Giovanni Peluso

Giovanni Peluso, Olga’s father, purchases an estate on the southwest slope of the Montalcino area, historically known since the 1500s as “Podere Friggiali,” as documented by researches conducted the Augustinians Convent in Montalcino, who had long engaged in trade with the Podere.

Expansion

After expanding on the south ouest slope, Olga’s family acquires an additional twenty-six hectares of Brunello vineyards and several hectares of Sant’Antimo, in the stunning and then-wild southeastern area of Montalcino.
Here Clos Degli Amodeo is to be found.

Donna Olga

Olga acquires sole ownership of the historic four hectares on the Friggiali slope from her family and begins producing her own Brunello Donna Olga.
 

Grandi Cru d'Italia

Olga Peluso Centolani is selected by the founding members of the Comitato Grandi Cru d’Italia — the most renowned Italian wine producers whose aim is to unite the country’s most prestigious wineries — as member of the Committee.

 

World Atlas of Wine

Tenuta Donna Olga has the honor of being included in the “World Atlas of Wine” by Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson, a true Bible of the world’s wine regions and their most representative producers. This recognition joins others previously awarded by the most respected industry publications, including La Guida del Gambero Rosso, James Suckling, The Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Decanter, Falstaff, The World of Fine Wine as well as luxury lifestyle magazines such as The Gritti Magazine and Architectural Digest.

 

Tenuta Pietranera

Olga expands her estates in Montalcino by acquiring Tenuta Pietranera, historically part of the Castello di Velona estate, and organizes sensory wine and culinary experiences both among the Pietranera vineyards and in the magnificent halls of her Palazzo Bianchi Bandinelli in Siena.
